19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on court had prompted observers to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet defended four early break points in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
