Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then located multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they added.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important political figure commented the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
